A man can live and be healthy without killing animals for food; therefore, if he eats meat, he participates in taking animal life merely for the sake of his appetite. And to act so is immoral. --Leo Tolstoy, Russian novelist (1828–1910)

Vegan clothing

Fur, leather, and wool.  What do these have in common? The torture and exploitation of animals.

Fur is an obvious one, or it should be. Fur farms keep animals in small cages and force them to live the rest of their miserable lives out in a stressful and cramped environment. They are fed meat that we wouldn't consume ourselves because of how disgusting it is. Their necks are often broken or they are electrocuted so that their fur is protected. As I've talked about before, money is everything in these industries. Just as beauty products can be labeled as cruelty free when they aren't, fur can be labeled as faux fur when it actually does in fact come from animals.

Leather is not simply made from the beef industry's left overs. Separate cows are killed specifically for their skin. These animals are starved and mistreated until they get to the factories. They are forced to watch each other die. Just like fur, the leather industry lies too. Some faux leathers are coated with cow skin. You have to be careful when buying these fake items.

The wool industry isn't just nice people shaving sheep in a happy positive environment. So many people think this way but it's far from the truth. Sheep in this industry have been genetically modified so that they will create more wool than they need. They are also cut often and mistreated in other ways.

There are other industries that you need to be cautious of like the down industry and the silk industry.

There are alternative products to all of the above that don't harm animals. It isn't that hard to check a label.
