A man can live and be healthy without killing animals for food; therefore, if he eats meat, he participates in taking animal life merely for the sake of his appetite. And to act so is immoral. --Leo Tolstoy, Russian novelist (1828–1910)

Things you didn't know were vegan

Many people think being a vegan is hard because you have to give up so many things. I had no trouble doing this because I opened my eyes to the nasty pus and such that is in so many of the foods I used to enjoy. It was also super easy because a lot of things that I ate before I was vegan, are actually vegan. Here I want to let you know of just a few of these yummy foods you probably didn't realize were vegan.

  • Oreos
  • Duncan Hines Creamy Home-Style frosting
  • Duncan Hines Cake Mixes
  • Smucker's Marshmallow Ice Cream Topping
  • Hershey's Chocolate Syrup
  • Betty Crocker's Bac-O's Bacon Flavor Bits
  • Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
  • Ritz Crackers
  • Unfrosted Pop-Tarts
  • Nutter Butters
  • Nature Valley Crunchy Granola Bars
  • Krispy Kreme Fruit Pies
  • Thomas Bagels
  • Super Pretzel Baked Soft Pretzel
  • Chocolate Chip Teddy Grahams
  • DQ Star Kiss Bar
  • Ghiradelli Double Chocolate Brownie Mix
  • Cap’n Crunch Peanut Butter Crunch
  • Monster Energy drinks
  • Doritos Spicy Sweet Chili
  • Clif Bars
  • Jolly Ranchers
  • Red Bull Energy Drink
  • Airheads Taffy
  • Dum Dums
  • Dots
  • Sour Patch Kids
  • Swedish Fish
  • Tic Tacs

And there you have it. Being a vegan doesn't necessarily mean you have to give up your favorite foods.

(This yummy Oreo photo was taken by me myself and I)

  1. What about French fries? Do those have anything that disqualifies them as vegan appropriate?

    1. It depends on where you go. For instance McDonald's fries are a no go because of the oil they fry them in.
