A man can live and be healthy without killing animals for food; therefore, if he eats meat, he participates in taking animal life merely for the sake of his appetite. And to act so is immoral. --Leo Tolstoy, Russian novelist (1828–1910)

Why vegan?

The first time I realized that what was on my plate was an animal I instantly decided to go vegan. Sure, we all know when we are consuming animals but not many people make that connection. They don't look at the chicken on their plate and think about helpless birds stuck in cages on a plantation. They don't think about said birds crying and getting chopped up just to be fried up for our consumption. They don't truly think about what they are eating. Once I made that connection I couldn't go back. I didn't even realize I was a vegan at first, all I knew is I didn't consume any animal products.

Many people ask me, why are you vegan? I wish I could reply with my true opinion, that animals do not deserve to be chopped up for our enjoyment or artificially inseminated to produce dairy. That tends to freak people out though and gives the wrong idea about vegans. We are all about positivity! Here are some socially acceptable reasons I have for going vegan.

1. It's healthier.

2. Vegan food is super yummy!

3. Meat is full of feces and other bodily fluids. No thanks!

4. By going vegan you save at least 100 animals a year.

5. You have way more energy on a vegan diet.

6. Helps to save the planet!

(In relation to #2, all of the above are picture I've taken recently of yummy vegan grub)

  1. It does seem pretty harsh what we do to animals. More people should seriously think about pursuing this type of lifestyle.

  2. I agree that it is cruel what we do to animals. I did not know that when one person becomes a vegan that saves 100 animals a year, that's amazing.
